YARD SALE 2014 – a review

imageThese are the things that I picked up in the yard sale on Sunday: a hand-drill, a pair of boots, three courgettes, some L-plates and some handmade jewellery. The whole lot for under a tenner.

Unfortunately there weren’t many other bargain hunters around. Perhaps it was the weather. Perhaps the whole idea is flawed. Certainly many of the difficulties identified last year persist. Stallholders scattered around a fairly large village find it difficult to attract custom.

If anyone wants to pick this up for next year, we could maybe consider just having the yard sale around the centre of the village – with people who live in outlying areas invited to sell things on the Green or at the village hall? And maybe hold it on a Farmers’ Market day – so that there are people in the village anyway?

Whatever the case, if it happens next year, I think it will need proper “sit-down” planning.
