crimewyeHot Fuzz isn’t a reference to the second film of the Wye Youth Cinema Club (to be shown on Saturday 13th July in the church), but rather to the fact that there’s going to be a mobile police unit parked outside the Co-op today (Friday 5th July) between 3.30 and 5 pm. The police are coming to ‘meet the people‘ – and it’s going to be a hot day.

Anyone going along may like to consult the police website where there are some fascinating statistics about crime in our area (as well as everywhere else in the country of course.. they don’t just compile statistics for Wye!)

crime2As can be seen from the attached screenshots showing crime in Wye during May 2013, we do live in a pretty safe community – certainly compared to Ashford (281 crimes in the same period) and Canterbury (430).

But if you have any concerns, you are encouraged to go along. The police and crime commissioner for Kent, Ann Barnes, has made an appearance at some of these mobile events so it may be a chance to get to meet her.
