The most controversial words in the exhibition were clearly the words ‘wind power’. One note said very simply ‘biomass – yes; wind – no’ which inspired me to make this collage.

Many people in the community are anti wind power and their principle objections are:

  • wind turbines kill birds
  • wind turbines don’t work
  • wind turbines are ugly

Less than a week after the exhibition, I made a short speech at a public meeting in the village church in support of wind power. The data I used to refute the above allegations was as follows:

I’m not actually sure that I think wind turbines should be constructed near Wye. But I do think we should consider both the pro and anti arguments – free of prejudice.
